In the first of a new series of articles about Asian football's key movers and shakers, Karim Bencherifa, head coach of Indian club Salgaocar, talks to ESPNSTAR.com.
BACKGROUND: Karim Bencherifa is no stranger to India, having previously coached at Churchill Brothers and Mohun Bagan before joining Salgaocar in 2010.
During a coaching career spanning 18 years, 43-year-old Karim has also worked in his native Morocco, Malta, the United States of America, Brunei, Singapore. He guided Salgaocar to the I-League and Federation Cup double last season and has won Coach of the Year awards in Malta, Singapore and most recently, India.
