Naval Aviation: The Next 100 years -- Second Line of Defense

Today, October 3, 2011 was the first day of the next 100 years for the Navy Marine team in the air and on the sea. The F-35 Joint Program Office just announced the future.

ABOARD USS WASP, At sea – The Navy and Marine Corps Team made more remarkable naval aviation history today as the F-35B Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) test aircraft BF-2 landed safely on USS Wasp's (LHD-1) flight deck, the first at sea vertical landing for the Marine Corps' F-35 JSF version.

But don't say it can't happen. When buyers are drowning in debt and sticker shock sets in, it's only natural for sellers to announce that they've got a great deal, just for you.

Still, who knew we could snag 65 state-of-the-art F-35 fighter jets for just $65 million a pop?

If that sounds like a lot, you obviously don't spend much time shopping for fighter jets. That price is a cool $10 million less for each fighter than Canada's Defence Department has already budgeted. I write this to you from Tucson, Arizona, from a state synonymous with dehumanization and racial profiling, from a land of fear and hate. Birmingham, I think you know what I speak of. But don't think I am alluding to your past; also today.

HB 56, the bill that your state legislature recently passed and that your governor signed, is being touted as the toughest anti-immigrant bill in the country, one that was affirmed by a U.S. District judge this September. This measure requires school officials to act as immigration agent sand permits police officers to detain people without bail, based merely on suspicion of being in the country illegally. That it has fomented hate and caused panic and fear was the point, wasn't it?

You might be wondering why someone from Arizona would be writing to a Southern city or state capitol? The answer is simple; Birmingham represents memory; it is etched into the psyche of the nation. RECAP
Rashi makes an excuse to Kokila about returning the dress to the designer, which angers Kokila. The designer Tejas comes home to collect a bag he had earlier forgotten. Rashi returns the dress to Tejas. The Modi family is stunned when Gopi admits that she tore the dress by mistake, and that Rashi told her to sew the tear. Aham scolds Gopi. Rashi is miffed when Tejas loves Gopi's sewing, and offers her the dress as a gift. Aham admires Gopi. Kokila and her family attend a garba function. Everyone is stunned to see Kinjal as the Guest of Honour at the function. Aham is angry when the people there gossip about Kinjal. Aham, Kokila and Dhaval are hurt when Kinjal is very rude to them. Rashi is miffed when the security guards do not allow Urmila to enter the garba venue.

Kolkata Durga Puja 2009 Durga Puja is the biggest festival in Bengal. This is also known as Dussehra and Navaratri in other parts of India. Durga is the Goddess of divine power against all evils. The story goes that Mahisasur, the Buffalo Demon, through years of praying, received blessing from Lord Brahma, that no power can kill him which means he is invincible. But once gaining this power he started ravaging the whole world and killing people. And finally he wanted to uproot the Gods too. The Gods, in dismay, combined their powers to create a beautiful maiden, and each placed his or her most potent weapon in one of her ten hands riding a lion. Her return in each year in the Bengali month of Aswin (September-October) commemorates Rama's invocation of the goddess Durga before he went into battle with Ravana. The traditional image of the Bengali Durga follows the iconographic injunctions of the Shastras. It is similar to the Durga of Aihole and of Mahabalipuram (seventh century). The tableau of Durga with her four children - Kartik, Ganesh, Saraswati and Lakshmi, representing respectively the Protector, the Initiator of the puja, Knowledge and the Provider - signifies the complete manifestation of the goddess. Another legend has it that Lord Rama went to rescue his abducted wife Sita from the grip of Ravana, the king of the demons in Lanka. Gaddafi Forces Turn Sirte Into Military Nerve Centre -- The Telegraph

Forces loyal to Col. Muammar Gaddafi have transformed Sirte hospital into a fortified military base as rebel fighters close in on the city centre.

Doctors fleeing the area said they had seen arms depots inside the complex and that "rocket launchers and mortar detonators ring the hospital".

Inside the built-up area of downtown Sirte, Ibn Sina hospital has become the nerve centre of the pro-Gaddafi operation. "There is a military operations room below the maternity ward of hospital," said Osama Muttawa Swehli, one of the rebels.

Shruti Seth in Disney`s new show

Shruti Seth in Disney`s new showAfter "Shararat", actor-host Shruti Seth will soon be seen on the small screen once again with a new Disney show, the name of which is yet to be revealed.

"Starting shoot for my new show on Disney today. Post Shararat this will be my 2nd show on the channel. Hope all goes well. Fingers crossed!" Shruti wrote on microblogging site Twitter.

"The show will only go on air sometime early next year. Will update you with details soon. Much love, " she further posted.

Shruti played the role of a fairy in "Shararat" along with veteran actress Farida Jalal, who played her grandmother.

Siri on iPhone 4S.

My son Chris emailed to say he thinks it's creepy and...
If Steve Jobs were still in charge, would he have thought it was a good idea to put Hal the computer from 2001 on your iPhone as a primary feature?
... but I watched the video about it, and... wow! I love it!

And yes, I know, some article in the NYT said brain-imaging shows people literally love their iPhone.

I can tell you the point in the video when I fell in love: 0:50. A woman putting a cupcake batter in the oven tells the iPhone to set the timer.

On second viewing, I was struck by the low-key introduction a blind woman: We see hands on Braille. She receives a spoken-word message and responds with speech. And that's the end of the video, the music comes up, and it's Ray Charles — he too was, of course, blind — singing "What'd I Say." Perfect!

Discredited global warming scientist, Michael Mann, sees his last-ditch efforts to hide data fall apart as legal experts reveal a mountain of legal precedents against him.

In his recent papers (filed on September 2, 2011) Mann claims 'academic freedom' and 'proprietary materials' as his defense. But legal experts who have since reviewed Mann's submission to the Circuit Court of Prince William County, Va., say they are so full of holes they are doomed to fail.

In this article we show why the Virginia court isn't likely to give Michael Mann a 'get out of jail free' card when it comes to covering up what looks increasingly like a monumental climate conspiracy.

Roma hopeful over new De Rossi deal

Roma administrator Claudio Fenucci remains cautiously optimistic that midfielder Daniele De Rossi will extend his contract with the Serie A outfit.
The Italy international, who was a reported target of Manchester City this summer, has been locked in talks with Roma about a new deal for the last six months with his current contract expiring at the end of the season.

Tucson's "Wide Receiver" is the latest government gun-smuggling code.

Hollywood could have invented cute names for ATF agents smuggling guns to criminals. Maybe even introduced a plot twist where a brave Border agent is murdered because of gun smuggling. But even Hollywood would realize Eric Holder's Project Gunrunner - and all its foul brood - is about Death.

The American people are slowly learning about a sinister scheme, concocted in the US Government's Executive Branch, that was then enabled by Chiefs of nearly every Federal Law enforcement Agency. Gunrunner, Fast and Furious and Wide Receiver are all stylized, trivialized names for government agents who helped smuggle American guns to Mexican drug cartels.

Playful names mask deadly crimes and deep corruption too serious to invent. ATF agent whistleblowers say that ATF's Operation Fast and Furious (with Justice Department direction) enabled thousands of weapons to be smuggled into Mexico and sold to drug cartels.

The smuggling, gun-walking project called Gunrunner (proudly announced in 2009 by Attorney General, Eric Holder in Cuernavaca, Mexico) has cost the lives of Tucson Sector Border Agent, Brian Terry and ICE Agent, Jaime Zapata, along with hundreds of Mexican military and law enforcement.

Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 4th October 2011 Written Update

The episode begins with Nani screaming at La for messing up with the Tulsi plant. She says it's unauspicious to take Tulsi plant out of the temple. La thinks that if she tells where she took the plant, she would get screamed at even more so she said she doesn't know where it is. Nani said she knew that La shouldn't be trusted with such a big responsibilty. Manorma intervenes and says it must be here somewhere but this angers Manorma even more. Just then Khushi enters and Nani starts complaining about La. Arnav comes and gets annoyed at all the noise. Khushi feels her heartbeat getting faster She recalls Shyam's words as she checks Arnav out La snaps Khushi out of her trance and she realises Nani and Arnav are still arguing. Khushi says something is wrong. La says yes something is wrong and tells her about the plant and asks for help. Khushi tells her not to worry. Khushi tells Nani where the plant is and everyone gets shocked. Nani looks supremely angry.
Scene shifts to Shyam keeping an eye on Shashi and saying whatever he does has to be done fast.
Garima and Madhumati are in the kitchen. Shyam comes and checks Khushi's photo out. He tells Madhumati he'll do the work and she gets impressed. He takes some kumkum and puts it in front of Khushi's photo . He drops the plate and Madhumati comes rushing. He apologises and indicates towards the kumkum in front on Khushi's photo. Madhumati gets shocked as well as starts taking it as a hint.
Scene shifts back to a furious Nani and Khushi asks Arnav why he kept the plant there. Arnav gets confused and Khushi winks to make him get the hint . He goes like 'W*F?' but Khushi handles him and says he put the plant with his other plants . Arnav gets annoyed but Khushi doesn't stop and and give him a chance to reveal that he's innocent . Arnav finally gets the hint and says it's his f [...]

(CNN) -- A truck filled with explosives barreled into a government complex in the heart of Somalia's restive capital Tuesday, a brazen strike killing dozens of people, including students registering for an education program.

The U.N. Political Office for Somalia labeled the strike as a "vehicle-borne suicide bomb attack" that left "scores" of people dead and many others wounded.

Alex Jones Campaigns to 'End the Fed'

Editor's note:  There's good information about Alex Jones working behind the scenes to get Jeff Rense and Michael Rivero kicked off of the GCN Radio network.  Alex Jone's softness for Zionism has also been a very real observation in the past.  While understanding these weaknesses, the Occupy Wall Street movement, like any past mass movement, is imperfect and clumsy.  We'll find similar qualities for an objective to "end the Fed" that stems from an argument on behalf of "unfettered capitalism".   Not without recognizing, however, that this move by Alex Jones is a significant addition to the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Submariners Sacked At Sea Despite MoD Promise -- The Telegraph

Swathes of sailors on submarines have been sacked at sea despite Ministry of Defence promises that no servicemen would be made redundant.

A fifth of submarine medics serving on board Trident nuclear deterrent and hunter killer submarines have been axed, including one who cared for the wounded on the HMS Astute after a crewman went on the rampage.

It is understood that several sailors were told they were losing their jobs while conducting covert operations after their captains received a signal at sea from the Ministry of Defence.

The Navy sacked the personnel despite a previous promise that no-one from the overstretched and undermanned Submarine Service would be among the 5,000 sailors being made redundant.
