Actor-director Pandiarajan's son Prithivi, who debuted in films as hero more than an year back, is attempting a comeback with a film titled 'Pathinettan Kudi', the audio of which was launched recently at a glittering function. Expectedly, the highlight of the evening was the speech delivered by the diminutive Pandiarajan. Pandiarajan's mentor Bharathiraaja, who was recently elected as the president of the Directors' Association, was the chief guest and was welcomed by a garland which was made of as many as 1,000 lotus flowers. Bharathiraaja was mainly responsible for Pandiarajan's tenure for more than 20 years in the industry as an actor and director. "When director Sundareswaran came to me to narrate the story, I told him to first narrate the script to the producer, who is investing so much of money to produce the film. Nowadays, to secure even a small loan of Rs.10,000 from a private financier, one has to affix his signature in so many places. That's why I told Sundar to first convince the producers and then come to me. Prithvi used to eat a lot prior to entering films. Once he made his debut, though, he cut down on his eating and has now become slim. I'm also doing many things. I'd be doing something big in March; it would obviously mean that I'm idle at present. However, I won't reveal what the 'big one' is," said Pandiarajan, sending the audience into peels of laughter. [...] At a time when Madurai-based movies are ruling the roost, Ranjith, a debutant filmmaker has come out with Atta Kathi, a film on the life of a youth in North Chennai, who thinks that he is a messiah of the masses, when he is actually not. Ranjith, who worked with director Venkat Prabhu, has chosen to set the film in the backdrop of fisherfolk in North Chennai. Speaking about the film, Ranjith says, 'the people in North Chennai live life in a different way. They have their own culture and they have their notion about things'. 'Atta kathi is about one youth who thinks he has a mission to accomplish. Dinesh, who acted in Aadukalam, Mounaguru among other films plays the lead role. Swetha plays the female lead.' Santosh Narayanan, who won the National Award for Advaitham, is scoring the music. |
